Nappy brain
Sometimes (often) Julian just cracks me up. Like when I sing opera to him with my arms gesticulating wildly in the air, and he copies me, hand gestures and all. Like when he makes coy eyes at everyone from the supermarket check-out girl to the old lady on the street. Like how he needs to say the words he knows in a loud, booming voice, just in case someone in three suburbs over hasn't heard him. (We walked into an optometrist's the other day, and it was "GLASSES" followed by "FLOWER" (the wallpaper) and other assorted words.
Nappy-brain, I fear, is something I now have to live with. Case in point: on Friday, I clear forgot we had music class. Didn't remember it until the wee hours of Saturday night, when I suddenly bolted upright in bed and said, "David, did I go to music class yesterday?" (Not only had I forgotten the class, but my mind couldn't even tell me if I'd attended it in the past 36 hours.) And, a couple of days before, I put the pram in the boot of my car, put Julian in his car seat, and then drove off with my mobile phone on the roof of the car. Three hundred lost phone numbers later, I have learned my lesson.
