Julian's many talents lately include drawing with beautiful precision and developing his voice. Both my kids can hold a tune better than I ever did, and Julian's percussion teacher said he is truly talented, that he has an understanding of music that few people ever develop, something you're born with, like a knack for languages.

He also has a lot of empathy - when a young guy ran into the back of my car and seemed broke, Julian begged me to pay for us both, saying if he had the money, he would do so and give the guy a bit extra! Today, he drew a lovely rabbit for Zoe and also surprised his cousin Jake with a bottle of red lollies he had bought with limited funds when his school had gone on an excursion to Sovereign Hill.
