Pesach at Lil's

There is no better place to be. Until you realise it's autumn and
cooler and your kid wants to jump into the pool with his clothes on
but nothing to change into.

Betsy, pesach pig

Seder night at Marika and Jeremy's

Best fun ever - there was karpas and matzah racing, singing and a giant chocolate pig for the afikoman finders. Pretty amazing and we rocked it until 11pm

Little kids

Today at the local shopping centre, Julian, Noah and Zoe befriended a one year old child and played various games with him for about 15 minutes. At the end, his mother - a teacher, it turned out - said, "You can tell so much about a child's character by how they are with children - yours are so amazing, I want to take them home!"

Me too.

Haircut today

Terry said he was going for "French Mick Jagger." I think that's pretty accurate!

That's no justice

Um, JUSTICE CREW? Are you kidding me?
Mother was not too happy to learn I jumped up onstage for a minute. She said I was NOT the hired entertainment.

Since we were ready 90 minutes before the party and raring to go, we arrived with 30 minutes to kill. Killing it.

First Batmi party

It's a big deal.

Goodbye Lexus

You served us well. It's hard to believe that Julian was only two when we got it, a car we've fondly called "Lexundra," who has seen us through a massive hail storm, two accidents (me at fault it one, not the other), our first trip to see snow, numerous trips to the Hot Springs, who has survived sickness and health and both my kids' motion sickness, who has played music and books on tape and been comfortable and safe all the while. I really do feel quite emotional! Never felt sentimental about a car before. It's okay - the new one is called Frankie. We're getting used to him/ her too. (Apparently Lexandra was a girl.) Postscript: I had to send this photo to Julian's homeroom teacher to prove his hair was out of his eyes when he arrived at school in the morning. They are saying he needs a haircut. We are looking at other options! (I need some kind of industrial gel.)

Pokemon

At the moment, the world is about Pokemon. Pokemon cards, and special Pokemon cards, and things that I can't begin to decipher. Julian tried to sell a bunch on ebay and then we were told by a collector that we had a bunch of fakes (bought, I later learned, at the $2 shop). So Pokemon has been a lesson in fair trade as well as rip-offs.

When Julian and I went out for Thai dinner this week, he popped in next door to ask at a 7-11 if they had Pokemon cards. Another customer, a guy in his mid-20s, said he used to collect them too, and suddenly he and Julian were embroiled in a detailed conversation about different characters. I was lost.

April fool's day

Bedroom strewn with toilet paper; bath run completely cold. Must be April 1st in Julian's world.
